Desirée Soria-Wilson was born here in Tucson, AZ. She is a working, self-taught artist and first generation college student who enjoys spending her free time out in nature or with her 9-year-old Rottweiler rescue. Although she spent most of her childhood years in Tucson, her family moved to Phoenix while she was in elementary school. Since her mother and grandmother were both early educators, Desirée was encouragedfrom a young age to create and use her critical thinking. She participated in things like summer art programs at the U of A and Mad Science programs. With this upbringing, she naturally found her interests in sciences and the arts.
While attending high school in Phoenix,Desiréeparticipated in sports, and both performing and visual arts. To appease her curious mind, she elected to take courses such as human anatomy, ceramics, choir, and Spanish. In the fall of 2013, Desiree moved back to her roots in Tucson to pursue a higher education at the University of Arizona. She currently has one more semester before she graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies- with emphasis in Science and Technology, Health, and Arts and Society.
While her 4-year plan has taken a little longer than expected, Desirée has been able to immerse herself into traveling. Some of her favorite experiences have been visiting the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit at The Heard Museum in Phoenix, the MoMA in New York, and The Dalí Museum in Tampa. In addition to Frida Kahlo, Desirée’s muses are the likes of Vincent Van Gogh, John Tenniel (think Alice in Wonderland), H.R. Giger, Pablo Picasso, and Rembrandt. Her passion for art and all things curious makes Desirée an inspired individual who views the world through a kaleidoscope lens!
